What changed, when, and why

Fixes and improvements that affect the whole product: a calculation, how data is handled, how a number is shown. New features and every other change are on What's new.

This page

Product-wide changes to a calculation, to how data is handled or to how a number is shown, with the date and the reason.

A number's own history

When one reading is corrected, its history keeps the old value, the new value and the reason. Open the reading to see it.

Fixed

Alert emails follow current access

Queued alerts now check your current workspace and finance access before becoming eligible for email. Alerts you can no longer access stay out of the outgoing queue.

Fixed

Standalone alerts stay in Sondola and email

You can review standalone alerts in Sondola and receive eligible alerts by email. Standalone alerts no longer post to Slack. The Slack digest you choose to post is unchanged.

Fixed

Shared links and offline data handling

Your shared metric and investor update pages no longer pass their address to websites you open from them. Your installed app stops saving readings for offline use and clears its previously saved offline readings when the update takes effect on your device.

Fixed

AI suggestions stop when your key cannot be read

Your AI suggestions stop with a clear message if your own key cannot be read. They no longer switch to Sondola's key when that lookup fails.

Fixed

Goals follow who can see their metric

A goal, its history, its share links and its alert emails now follow each person's access to the goal's metric, so whoever cannot see the metric cannot see the goal. A company goal on a money metric, like spend or cash, stays with owners and people with finance access, and the goal form says who will see a company goal before you save it.

Fixed

Metric guides cite their sources

The metric guides on sondola.com no longer present reference values as if Sondola measured them. Every benchmark names its source, its basis and when it was published, and the trial-to-paid guide uses the latest RevenueCat figures.

Fixed

Spend paced the way it is billed

This month's spend pace now counts a payroll run or a monthly tool that has not billed yet at last month's amount, so the month no longer looks cheaper than it is. Top vendors is one list with each vendor's category, and burn multiple is worked out one way everywhere.

Fixed

Goals graded to the day their data covers

A goal on a running total, like revenue this quarter, is now paced to the last day its readings cover instead of today, so it no longer looks behind while its tool catches up. A goal on the wrong side of its line shows red however close it is, and a blank baseline takes the reading at the start of the period.

Improved

A metric that never said when its next figure was due

Freshness was judged by a single clock, so a figure closed at the end of a month was treated the same as one that updates every morning. A metric now states when its next value is expected, and a closed month is no longer marked late until the following month has closed.

Improved

Runway that read 504 days

Making every workspace store runway in the same unit was correct and left a card reading "504.64 days". A figure now reads the way a person would say it, switching between days, months and years by size, and the rule lives in one place so a card, the weekly email and a shared image cannot disagree.

Fixed

A demo that refreshed everything except the numbers

The demo workspace refreshed its connector health every hour and had never once updated a figure, so every source claimed to have been read within the hour while the cash figures were nine days old. The demo now rolls its daily figures forward, deterministically, and a test asserts that no connector in it can claim a reading it has no number for.

Fixed

A unit conversion that multiplied thirteen true figures

A migration converted runway from months into days and inferred which rows needed converting from how large they were: anything under twelve was assumed to be months. Runway measured in days had legitimately fallen below twelve, so thirteen correct figures were multiplied by 30.4 and a board showed seven months of runway where the truth was seven days. Every affected figure has been restored, the correction is recorded against each one rather than quietly applied, and values are no longer rewritten anywhere in Sondola without the previous value being kept. A test now asserts that a runway figure matches the arithmetic in its own note, which is the check that would have caught this on the day it shipped.

Fixed

Alerts that recorded but could not be seen

A workspace-wide alert carries no metric name, and the visibility rule on the alert log required one, so every data-stopped alert ever raised was invisible to the workspace that raised it. Fixed. Separately, the nightly dispatcher would have stopped for every workspace the first time a demo workspace was given an alert rule. It now skips them.

Fixed

An operations log that other tenants could read

An internal log of collector runs was readable by any signed-in user and was not scoped to a workspace. It has been closed to everyone but staff, and the dashboard heartbeat now reads each workspace's own source health instead. This also corrected a display fault nobody had reported: the demo board was showing the timestamp of an unrelated collection run, because the figure was a maximum taken across every workspace.

Fixed

Four internal functions that answered for any workspace named

Four helper functions took a workspace identifier and returned an answer without checking who was asking. They are now unreachable from a browser session entirely, while the sharing features that legitimately need them are unaffected, and a test sweeps for any future function with the same shape.

Fixed

One metric held in two different units

The catalogue entry for runway declared its unit as days while its description said months, and different workspaces had stored it both ways. Each figure now records the unit it is expressed in rather than inheriting one by assumption, a new figure takes its unit automatically, and a test fails if any metric is ever stored in two units at once.

Investigating a number?

  1. Read its definition, unit and reporting period.
  2. Check which source it comes from and when that source last reported.
  3. Open its correction history.
  4. Compare the same period in the source tool.
