What you need

Connect OpenAI usage and costs in 3 steps

  1. Open Admin keys

    In the OpenAI Platform, open Organization settings, then Admin keys.

  2. Create a read-only key

    Press Create new admin key, name it Sondola, and choose Read only.

    Key name: Sondola. Permission: Read only.
  3. Paste it here

    It starts with sk-admin- and OpenAI shows it once. Sondola keeps it in an encrypted vault and never shows it again.

Enter credentials only in your Sondola workspace. Keep keys out of screenshots, public repositories and support messages.

If this key is deleted in OpenAI, AI spend falls back to your books and bank until you add a new one.

Secrets are stored encrypted in your workspace, in a vault kept separate from the application database. Sondola never shows them again.

Refresh and first reading

Once a day. Most tools refresh once or twice a day, and every number shows when it was read.

Save and test reads yesterday's costs. From then on Sondola reads costs and usage once a day, a day behind, and adds models, projects and keys to AI spend. Only reads. Sondola never writes to your tools.

Troubleshooting

Save and test rejects the credential.

If this key is deleted in OpenAI, AI spend falls back to your books and bank until you add a new one.

The test passes but no reading appears.

The collector runs on its schedule, so a successful test does not mean a reading has landed. Check the source's data-through date and the metric's reporting period, and treat a missing reading as missing, not zero.

A number differs from OpenAI usage and costs.

Compare the definition, unit and reporting period with the same number in OpenAI usage and costs before treating a difference as an error. When a stored reading changes, its history keeps the old value, the new value and the reason.
