BetaConnect Firebase to Sondola
What Sondola reads from Firebase: active users, new users, sessions, crash-free users. Read-only, with the source and period beside every number.
In beta. You can connect it today and it is built to the vendor's documented API, but it has not yet run for long across many workspaces. Check its first readings against the tool itself.
Read-only. Sondola never changes your data in Firebase.

What Sondola reads from Firebase

- New users
- Sessions
- Crash-free users
What you need
- A Firebase project linked to Google Analytics, and Administrator access to that Analytics property. Firebase's app analytics are a Google Analytics property. That is what Sondola reads.
Collection timing and the period a reading covers are separate. Check the source's data-through date as well as the metric's reporting period.
Connect Firebase in 4 steps
- Turn on the Analytics Data API
In the Google Cloud project behind Firebase, enable the Google Analytics Data API.
Google Cloud: Analytics Data API ↗ - Create a service account and a key
IAM and Admin, Service accounts, Create service account. Then Keys, Add key, Create new key, JSON. Paste the file here.
- Add it to Analytics as a Viewer
Google Analytics, Admin, Property, Access management, the plus button, Add users. Enter the service account email and choose Viewer.
Analytics role: Viewer.Google Analytics ↗ - Copy the property ID
Firebase shows it under Project settings, Integrations, Google Analytics.
Enter credentials only in your Sondola workspace. Keep keys out of screenshots, public repositories and support messages.
What Sondola asks you for
Google Cloud console, IAM and Admin, Service accounts, the account, Keys, Add key, Create new key, JSON. Paste the whole file. Its client_email is the address you add to Google Analytics.
Firebase, Project settings, Integrations, Google Analytics, or Analytics Admin, Property details.
Secrets are stored encrypted in your workspace, in a vault kept separate from the application database. Sondola never shows them again.
Permissions
- A Google service account with the Viewer role on the Analytics property.
- The Google Analytics Data API turned on in the Cloud project behind Firebase.
Refresh and first reading
Once a day. Most tools refresh once or twice a day, and every number shows when it was read.
Save and test reads yesterday's active users. Each week or month is one report for exactly that period, so a person is counted once per period. Crash-free users here come from Analytics app_exception events and can differ from the Crashlytics console.
Troubleshooting
The test passes but no reading appears.
Firebase is a Pick the metric source. A working connection produces nothing until you choose a metric and its period. Then check the metric's reporting period and the source's data-through date.
A number differs from Firebase.
Compare the definition, unit and reporting period with the same number in Firebase before treating a difference as an error. When a stored reading changes, its history keeps the old value, the new value and the reason.
