Post a weekly digest to Slack

Monday morning, the week in one message. The one thing Sondola sends is the digest you choose to post to Slack. It is an output, not a data source.

Sondola reads nothing from Slack. It posts one message a week to the channel you choose.

What it sends

Every Monday at 14:00 UTC the digest posts: the North Star, the biggest movers of the week, cash and runway when the audience allows, and anything overdue.

What you need

  • You need permission to add apps to your Slack workspace. The one thing Sondola sends is the digest you choose to post to Slack.

Set up the digest in 3 steps

  1. Create a Slack app

Open api.slack.com/apps, Create New App → From scratch, name it after your dashboard, pick your workspace.

    Slack: your apps ↗
  2. Turn on Incoming Webhooks

In the app, Features → Incoming Webhooks → switch it on → Add New Webhook to Workspace → choose the channel the digest should land in → Allow.

Choose the channel for this digest. Each webhook belongs to one channel.Slack: incoming webhooks ↗
  3. Paste the webhook URL and choose the audience

Copy the URL Slack shows, paste it here, and choose who reads that channel. Save and test posts a hello to the channel.

Enter credentials only in your Sondola workspace. Keep keys out of screenshots, public repositories and support messages.

What Sondola asks you for

Incoming webhook URLRequiredSecret

Slack → your app → Incoming Webhooks → Add New Webhook to Workspace → pick the channel → copy the URL.

Anyone holding this URL can post to that channel. It is stored encrypted and never shown again. Regenerate it in Slack if it leaks.
Who reads this channelRequired

The whole team: cash, burn, runway and spend are left out of the digest. Only me: everything.

Secrets are stored encrypted in your workspace, in a vault kept separate from the application database. Sondola never shows them again.

Permissions

  • An incoming webhook for one channel. Anyone holding the URL can post to that channel, so it is stored encrypted and never shown again.
  • Sondola reads nothing from Slack. It only posts the weekly digest.
  • For a whole-team channel, cash, burn, runway and spend are left out of the digest.

When it posts

Every Monday at 14:00 UTC.

Troubleshooting

Save and test rejects the credential.

A number differs from Slack digest.

Compare the definition, unit and reporting period with the same number in Slack digest before treating a difference as an error. When a stored reading changes, its history keeps the old value, the new value and the reason.
