What Sondola reads from Chargebee: MRR, subscriptions, churn and revenue. Read-only, with the source and period beside every number.

What you need
- A Chargebee admin who can open API Keys. Works with Product Catalog 1.0 and 2.0.
Collection timing and the period a reading covers are separate. Check the source's data-through date as well as the metric's reporting period.
Connect Chargebee in 3 steps
- Open API keys
In Chargebee go to Settings, then Configure Chargebee, then API Keys and Events, and open the API Keys tab.

Press Add API Key, choose Read-only Key and then All. Name it, for example Sondola read-only. It can read your billing data and cannot change anything.
Key type: Read-only Key. Read-only access selection: All. - Copy the key and the site name
Paste the key here. The site name is the part before .chargebee.com in your Chargebee address. A test site's name ends in -test.
Enter credentials only in your Sondola workspace. Keep keys out of screenshots, public repositories and support messages.
What Sondola asks you for
The part before .chargebee.com in your Chargebee address. For acme-health.chargebee.com it is acme-health.
Chargebee, Settings, Configure Chargebee, API Keys and Events, API Keys, Add API Key. Choose Read-only Key, then All.
Choose Read-only. A full-access key would also work, and Sondola would still only read, but there is no reason to hand over more than reading needs.Secrets are stored encrypted in your workspace, in a vault kept separate from the application database. Sondola never shows them again.

- A Read-only Key with access to All. It can read billing data and cannot change anything.
Refresh and first reading
Twice a day. Most tools refresh once or twice a day, and every number shows when it was read.
Save and test reads one subscription. MRR is each paying subscription's recurring plan and addons turned into a monthly amount, before coupons. Trials count from the day they start paying, and one-off charges are left out. Revenue is payments collected less refunds. If you bill in more than one currency, figures are read in the currency most subscriptions use.
Troubleshooting
Save and test rejects the credential.
Choose Read-only. A full-access key would also work, and Sondola would still only read, but there is no reason to hand over more than reading needs.
The test passes but no reading appears.
Chargebee is a Pick the metric source. A working connection produces nothing until you choose a metric and its period. Then check the metric's reporting period and the source's data-through date.
A number differs from Chargebee.
Compare the definition, unit and reporting period with the same number in Chargebee before treating a difference as an error. When a stored reading changes, its history keeps the old value, the new value and the reason.
